With an official announcement, the Organizing Committee of the conference explains the reasons that led to the decision to cancel the TEDxAgiaPelagia conference that was to be held on 24.07.2021 in Agia Pelagia.
We are currently in the unpleasant position of informing you about the cancellation of the TEDxAgiaPelagia conference that was to be held on 24.07.2021 in Agia Pelagia of the Municipality of Malevizi.
The ministerial announcement dated 29.06.2021 establishes new health protocols for the gathering places of persons from 15.07.2021. The premises are divided into pure and mixed and a differentiation is introduced in terms of their fullness, separation in terms of their accessibility to vaccinated or already sick and non-vaccinated as well as the obligation to perform a rapid test in the non-vaccinated.
All of the above make it impossible to hold the conference, as the organizing committee can not cope with the control of the above conditions for all participants (speakers / delegates / suppliers and sponsors).
Due to the above separation of citizens and the general socio-economic situation, its smooth conduct is impossible. In particular, non-vaccinated people refuse to incur extra financial burden for performing a rapid test and there are also cases of vaccinated people who refuse to be co-vaccinated with non-vaccinated.
In no case can the Organizing Committee exclude either of the two categories of citizens, since the very philosophy of holding a TEDxAgiaPelagia conference aims to reduce all kinds of distances / divisions between people, developing sympathy and solidarity to find euphoria, central theme of that conference.
The Organizing Committee of the conference, as responsible for the observance of the provisions concerning the “Emergency measures for the protection of public health from the risk of further spread of the coronavirus Covid-19 throughout the Territory” as well as the restriction of the new Delta mutation, considers the protection of the health of the citizens of Malevizi and the wider area and overturns the whole multi-month planning of this conference because its goal is to create euphoria in all participants and not discomfort.
